Propose a change
Anyone can propose a change to UGP. The steward reviews proposals every quarter and publishes every decision with its reasons.
v1.0 is open for public comment until November 23, 2026. Comments on the draft use this form, and are answered before v1.0 is final. See Public comment.
What to send
| Field | What to put |
|---|---|
| Which part of UGP | A section, a table cell, "General", or "New profile pack" |
| Type | Erratum · Clarification · Change a requirement · New profile pack · Translation |
| Title | One line, for example "Allow one S2 mark on zone AA for Like New" |
| Proposal | The change, as text you would want in the standard |
| Reason and evidence | Why, with inspection data, photos, buyer or return data where you have them (up to 5 files, 20 MB each) |
| Name and email | Your email is used only to reply and is never published |
Two choices are yours: whether to be credited by name in the contributors list, and whether the proposal is confidential (published only in summary, without your name). The form also asks you to agree that Device Supply may use the proposal in UGP and publish it, with your name if you chose to be credited, under the standard's licence. See the privacy notice.
How proposals are decided
- Submitted. You get a reference, such as UGP-P-0012-7F3A9C, and a public tracking page showing its status.
- Triage, within 10 business days: in review, needs information, or out of scope.
- Quarterly review. All proposals in review are decided together, once a quarter.
- Decision published, with reasons, in the decisions log.
- Release, as a MINOR or MAJOR version, announced at least 30 days before it takes effect. §18.2
Some things are settled and are not reopened except for errors: the grade structure, the rule that a grade needs a resale-ready device, the separation of grade and status, and the 80% battery rule. §19.4
