Translations

UGP is published in English and Canadian French. Official translations come only from the steward; how drafts and reviews are marked.

Official translations only

Under the licence, a translation counts as a modified version, so only the steward publishes official translations of UGP. You are welcome to propose a translation or a correction to one: use Propose a change with the type "Translation". §17.1

How translated pages are marked

Each French page records how far its translation has got:

  • Reviewed: checked by a professional reviewer against the English source.
  • Draft under review: the page shows a banner, and the English version governs until the review is done.
  • Out of date: the English page changed after the translation; the banner says so until the translation catches up.

The Specification tab and the official names are reviewed before a version is published.

The grade names

Each page uses one language. The French grade names are fixed by Annex C and used exactly on French pages, and an English page never shows them (nor a French page the English names). Annex C

Addresses and anchors

French pages live under /fr/, with French page names, for example /fr/v1.0/docs/grades/tres-bon-etat for Very Good. Section anchors are the same in both languages, so switching language keeps your place.
