Steward
Device Supply is the steward of UGP: what the steward does, what it does not do, and how its own marketplace is kept separate.
Device Supply is the steward of the Universal Grading Protocol and its founding author.
What the steward does
- Maintains the standard and publishes it at its permanent home, with every past version. §18.1
- Considers change proposals from anyone, decides them each quarter, and publishes every decision with its reasons. §18.5
- Announces each release at least 30 days before it takes effect.
- Publishes the official translations and the grade names in other languages. §17.1
- Credits contributors in Annex G.
- Will run the "UGP Verified" certification programme and its public registry, once its rules are published. §17.5
Once outside adopters exist, the steward intends to invite an advisory group of repairers and wholesalers.
What the steward does not do
- It does not certify devices graded by others, or warrant anyone's records or claims. §1.3 · §17.4
- It does not set prices, commercial terms or listing policies for adopters.
- It does not charge for using the standard. §17.2
The steward's own marketplace
Device Supply also runs a Canadian B2B marketplace that adopts UGP. That marketplace is one adopter among others: its listing rules, its remedies for misgrades and its supplier mappings are its own business decisions and are not part of the standard. They are published by Device Supply on devicesupply.ca, not here. §1.3
