Claim format
How to say a device is graded to UGP: the version, the conformance level and the verification tier, every time.
The claim
A party that grades to UGP states three things: the version, the conformance level and the verification tier.
Graded to UGP v1.0 · UGP-Full · V0 Declared
A letter or a name alone, without the version, is not a conformant claim. §13.4
While v1.0 is a public comment draft, records graded to it cite it as UGP v1.0 (public comment draft). Spec status
Conformance levels
| Level | What was recorded | What you can show |
|---|---|---|
| UGP-Full | Every applicable axis, the core code and an audit trail | The grade, with its disclosures |
| UGP-Cosmetic | The cosmetic axis only; other axes can be unknown | The cosmetic value only, never a grade |
| UGP-Functional | Functional, locks and data; cosmetic can be N | The functional, lock and data results; with cosmetic N the status is Not graded |
Verification tiers
| Tier | Name | What backs the record |
|---|---|---|
| V0 | Declared | The grader or seller supplies the record and answers for it |
| V1 | Evidenced | V0, plus the profile's photo set, a diagnostic report and a lost/stolen check (not a declaration), all within 72 hours of the offer |
| V2 | Inspected | The unit, or a lot sample, inspected by the steward or an inspector the steward approved |
V2 on its own is not "UGP Verified": that name is reserved for V2 units inspected under the steward's certification programme, which is not open yet. §13.5
Examples
| Where | Claim |
|---|---|
| A listing from a seller who graded the unit | Graded to UGP v1.0 · UGP-Full · V0 Declared |
| A listing with photos and a diagnostic report | Graded to UGP v1.0 · UGP-Full · V1 Evidenced |
| An invoice line | Very Good — Light marks on the body you can see but not feel. Screen near perfect. · Graded to UGP v1.0 · UGP-Full · V0 Declared |
| A cosmetic-only intake report | UGP v1.0 · UGP-Cosmetic · V0 Declared · cosmetic value B |
| A supplier's stock, mapped through a published crosswalk | Graded to UGP v1.0 · UGP-Full · V0 Declared · supplier-mapped |
A supplier-mapped grade, transcribed from a supplier's own scale through a published crosswalk, is always V0 Declared and is labelled supplier-mapped in records and exports. §13.6
Where the claim goes
Every offer and every document of sale records the version the unit was graded under, and a dispute is judged against that version. A later version never reinterprets an old record, though the unit can be regraded from its stored raw data and re-issued. §14.6
The “Graded to UGP” mark carries the same claim in a badge.
