Conformance and claims

Conformance levels, verification tiers and the claim format.

13.1 Conformance levels

LevelRequirement
UGP-FullEvery applicable axis recorded per this standard; core code produced; audit trail kept
UGP-CosmeticCosmetic axis graded per §5; other axes may be unknown. No grade may be shown; only the cosmetic value.
UGP-FunctionalFunctional, locks and data axes recorded; cosmetic may be N

13.2 Verification tiers

TierNameRequirement
V0DeclaredThe grader or seller supplies the record and answers for it
V1EvidencedV0, plus the profile's photo set, a diagnostic report, and the identity check (a lost/stolen check, not a declaration), timestamped within 72 hours of the offer
V2InspectedThe unit, or a lot sample per §14.5, inspected by the steward or an inspector approved by the steward

13.3 Claim format

A party that grades to UGP shall state the version, the conformance level and the verification tier:

Graded to UGP v1.0 · UGP-Full · V0 Declared

13.4 Letter or name alone

A letter or name alone, without the version, is not a conformant claim.

13.5 "UGP Verified"

"UGP Verified" may be used only for V2 units inspected under the steward's certification programme (§17.5(d)).

13.6 Supplier-mapped grades

A supplier-mapped grade is a grade whose cosmetic value is transcribed from a supplier's own grading scale through a published crosswalk, instead of derived from the unit's observed defects under §5.

  • The crosswalk maps each of the supplier's grades to one UGP grade. The party that applies it publishes it.
  • The record carries axes.cosmetic.mapped_from: {scale, value, crosswalk}, the supplier's scale, its own grade and the crosswalk used, with cosmetic basis declared. The supplier's own grade is the stored raw observation for the cosmetic axis (§4.3).
  • The other axes are recorded or declared as for any other grade, and the status rules of §11.1 apply unchanged. A supplier grade that allows a fault, a crack, a lock or a battery below 80% maps to a status, never to a grade.
  • Its verification tier is V0 Declared: the party that maps it answers for it.
  • It shall be labelled as supplier-mapped in every record and every export that carries it: the derivation lists the disclosure supplier_mapped with the grade, and the core code carries the extension ~src:supplier (§12.1). The supplier's name stays in the record and never enters the core code (§14.4).
  • A claim for supplier-mapped grades should say so: Graded to UGP v1.0 · UGP-Full · V0 Declared · supplier-mapped.
  • A grade derived from observed defects is preferred wherever the units can be inspected.
