Battery health bands, the 80% rule and the charge-hold test.

8.1 Battery fields

The record holds:

  • battery_health_pct for the governing cell, with its basis;
  • per-cell values for multi-cell devices (for example an earbud case and the left and right buds);
  • battery_replaced: genuine, non-genuine or unknown, where known.

8.3 The 80% rule

No battery-bearing device graded under UGP shall have battery health below 80% of its original capacity.

  • A grader or seller may declare "≥ 80%" without a reading.
  • A declaration makes them answerable for it, and it is shown as declared.
  • A measured reading, when available, shall be recorded and shown.

8.4 Devices without a readable health figure

Devices without a readable health figure (most earbuds and some wearables) use a charge-hold test: charge to full, then run the profile's standard load for the profile's set time. The result is CP (pass, which counts as standard) or CF (fail, which counts as service).
