Data, parts, kit and Premium
Data sanitisation, the parts manifest, the Premium designation and the kit.
10.1 Data sanitisation (D)
Sanitisation follows NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 and IEEE 2883. The record states the method (clear, purge, destroy), the technique, the tool and version, a certificate ID where one exists, and the revision of the standard used.
For phones and tablets with hardware encryption, a factory reset is a cryptographic erase. To count as sanitised it must reach the first-run setup screen with every account and activation state cleared.
The values are:
V: sanitised and verified;W: sanitised, declared;X: not sanitised;U: unknown;N: not applicable (sealed).
A grade requires V or W.
10.2 Parts (P)
10.2.1 Parts manifest
The record holds a parts manifest for every part the profile tracks. For phones these are the battery, display, rear camera(s), front camera and logic board. Each part has one of these states:
genuine;non-genuine;used-genuine(a genuine part taken from another device);unknown;not-checkable.
(Informative: iOS Parts and Service History reports Genuine, Unknown Part, Used and Unverified.)
10.2.2 Roll-up value
The roll-up value is:
G: all tracked parts genuine, verified;D: all genuine, declared;M: one or more non-genuine parts (each listed);U: not verified;N: not applicable (sealed new).
10.2.3 Non-genuine parts
Non-genuine parts are permitted in grades A–D and shall be disclosed in every view of the grade, naming the part (for example "Display: non-genuine"). They are not permitted in NS, OB or Premium. Showing U is optional. Where an adopter does display parts, U shall read "Parts not verified" and never imply genuineness.
10.3 Premium designation
Premium is a designation on a Like New (A) grade, not a grade of its own. It requires all of:
- cosmetic value
A0, meaning zero defects on the display and camera lenses; - battery ≥ 90%, measured;
- parts
G, meaning all tracked parts genuine and verified.
10.4 Kit (K)
The record holds a component manifest: item, present, OEM, condition, quantity. Each profile publishes its required components.
The roll-up value is:
F: full, every required component present and OEM;P: partial, with missing items listed;H: unit only, with no box and no accessories ("Handset only" on New Open Box).
Kit is disclosed. It never changes the grade.
