AxesNormative§7
Functional axis
Key and secondary functions, fault codes and the functional status FF, FM, FJ, FK or FX.
7.1 Key and secondary functions
Each profile lists the device's key functions and secondary functions (§16).
7.2 Fault codes
Faults are recorded with codes from the fault lexicon (Annex A). Each code has a default severity: minor, major or key.
7.3 Functional status
Functional status is derived from the recorded faults:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| FF | Fully functional: no faults |
| FM | Minor faults only |
| FJ | One or more major faults; all key functions work |
| FK | A key function fails (no power, no boot, display inoperable, no calls, does not charge) |
| FX | Not tested |
7.4 A grade requires FF
A device with FM, FJ or FK has status REPAIR or PARTS (§11).
7.5 CTIA functional class
For phones, tablets and watches, a record may emit the CTIA functional class, derived from the recorded faults: display-fault severity against other-fault severity, using CTIA's published classification. FF always derives class 1. Other classes are emitted as derived. UGP does not reproduce CTIA's table.
